Allotransplantation

Allotransplantation is a procedure through which an organ or cells from another human being are transferred to an ill person (as opposed to autologous transplantation and xenotransplantation). The prefix "allo" describes the source of the transplant, i.e. human to the person who is not the patient him/herself.
