Diastereoisomer

A Diastereoisomer is a stereoisomer that is not an enantiomer.

Diastereoisomers have different configurations at their stereo centres(s) and their physical-chemical properties are relatively distinct. A typical example is D-threose/D-eryththrose. They are easy to separate using physical methods (crystallisation, distillation etc.)
