Otherness

Otherness is the recognition of the difference in another. It is an essential value for secularity which prioritises the intermixing of cultures as a source of enrichment and peace. The difference clearly is not a value in itself. There are unacceptable differences, particularly those which have the specific aim or result of denying someone else of their own right to be different. Otherness is the value which makes men and women the leading beings.
