Proxy

A proxy is a single machine in a local network connected to the internet and performing internet requests for the other computers in the network, such as requesting a Web page. A proxy can also act as a firewall to block access or unauthorised sending. For browsers, a proxy is also a server used to perform requests for Web pages instead of the user doing it directly, thus preserving anonymity.
