Podcasting

Podcasting is a word made from a combination of iPod, Broadcasting and webcasting. A system for broadcasting and aggregating audio contents intended for portable players such as the iPod. Developed by Adam Curry in 2004, podcasting uses the RSS 2.0 content syndication format to make compilations available to subscribers in a similar way as to subscribing to news streams. The program that captures the audio stream and synchronises with the broadcaster is called a podcatcher.
