Extranet

An extranet network is an internet type network where the security list is externalised, i.e. managed by an organism or entity external to the users.

An extranet is an extension of a business's information system to partners located beyond the network.

An extranet is neither an internet nor an internet site; it is an extra system, for example offering a business's customers, partners or subsidiaries privileged access to certain of the business's computer resources via a Web interface.
