Demodulation

Telecommunications. Demodulation means the conversion of a modulated analogue signal into digital data directly usable, for example, by a computer.

A process by which a signal is restored to its original form. For example, a musical signal must be frequency modulated if it is to be transmitted by radio waves. The radio receiver has to demodulate the signal to get back the original signal.
