Adware

Adware is a contraction of advertising spyware. Adware inspects the sites visited by users in order to display targeted advertising in the form of pop-ups or banners. In some cases these spies use the information collected to feed commercial databases. Many programs sponsored by advertising include adware, which is often installed without the user's knowledge.
