IP protection index

The IP protection index indicates the degree of protection of the envelopes around electric equipment.

It is followed by three figures which indicate resistance to penetration:

• solids (0 to 6) ;
• de liquids (0 to 8) ;
• against impact or mechanical damage (0 to 9).
