Telnet

Telnet is an application protocol for emulating a terminal on the internet. It allows you to open a connection with a remote server as if you were on the spot. Before all this was possible directly on the web, remote consultation of library catalogues used to be done using Telnet. Telnet is a non-secure protocol and the data transiting is not encrypted, unlike SSH (Secure Shell).
