Polymer Light-Emitting Diode. An OLED-related technology (Organic Light-Emitting Diodes), using light-emitting polymers, easier to obtain in liquid solution than the OLEDs currently used today. CDT (Cambridge Display Technology), which own the relevant patent, describes many other advantages: for example, the fact that “the refresh rate of polymer diodes is several thousand times faster than for an LCD screen”. In 2007, a team at the university of Los Angeles (Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, Yang Yang and Jinsong Huang) managed to make a PLED screen with a single layer of polymer material in collaboration with Canon.
