Organic Light-Emitting Diodes. An organic (carbon compound) film is sandwiched between two other films acting as electrodes. When voltage is applied the organic compound lights up. This technology has many advantages: the screens are brighter, with more contrast, slimmer and lighter than LCD (liquid crystal display) screens, consume much less energy and potentially cost less to produce.
