MPEG, Moving Pictures Experts Group. The standard compression format for audio and video files for uploading, downloading or streaming. The MPEG-1 standard streams audio and video data at 150kB/s (equivalent to a CR-ROM player at single speed), achieving this rate by taking key images and only storing the zones that change between images. MPEG-2 is nearly 10 times as powerful.
