ITU

The ITU, or International Telecommunications Union, is a United Nations organisation for telecommunications. It was founded in 1865 and has 180 member countries. Its role is to harmonise the development of telecommunications worldwide. The headquarters of the ITU are in Geneva.

It was previously the CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee, from the French Comité consultatif pour le télégraphe et le téléphone internationaux).
