Gallica is the digital library of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF). It gives access to 70,000 digitised works, over 80,000 digitised images and dozens of hours of audio resources. The Gallica collection is composed of excerpts from the BnF digital library. It has been compiled in such a way as to make it both a heritage library and an encyclopaedia. The collection contains prestigious publications, dictionaries and periodicals. It covers numerous disciplines such as history, literature, science, philosophy, law, economics and political science.
The main language of the collection is French, but it also offers a number of foreign classics in their original language or translated.
