Filter

A filter is a function, set of functions or combination of functions that applies a certain number of transformations at its input, producing an output containing only those input elements that meet certain criteria. The selected elements may or may not be converted. An example could be a search function that accepts strings having a boolean relationship (like a or like b but not containing c) with optional forced case of the output strings.
