Blu-Ray

Blu-ray Disc is the name of a successor to DVD. Based on a blue laser beam, unlike the red laser used for CDs and DVDs, it allows more information to be stored on the same surface area. It is a Sony proprietary format, and can store 50 GB of data. It has the same thickness as a DVD, but the transparent protective layer is thinner, making it necessary for manufacturers to significantly modify their production lines.
