Tertiary was the former name for the first geological period of the Cenozoic era, now divided into the Paleogene and Neogene periods. Extended from 65 million years ago to 2 million years ago. This period saw the appearance of primates, horses, cetaceans, bovines, ovines and many other mammals and various creatures.
