Tectonic basin

A tectonic basin may refer to a depression in the crust which is composed either of a tectonic trench (rift or graben), or the immersed border of a continent, or a trench or piedmont basin at the foot of an active chain which is filled with sediment from the erosion of neighbouring peak regions.
