Schists

Schists are rocks with more or less thin flaky scales along the planes of the schist (planes in which the minerals making up the rock are oriented parallel to each other under the influence of tectonic forces). Schists are associated with zones of general metamorphism (e.g.: slate schists, chloritic schists, talc schists etc.).
