Ridge

A ridge is a chain of submarine mountains, aligned along 60,000 km and located at the edges of two divergent lithospheric plates. They are generally located at depths of more than 1000 m; summits sometimes emerge. They usually have a tectonic rift at their centre. They are created by submarine basaltic volcanism where two plates separate.
