Perovskite

Perovskite is a mineral compound of calcium and titanium oxides with the formula CaTiO3. It is named after the Russian mineralogist L. A. Perovski (1792-1856) who discovered it in the Ural mountains. It is quite a rare mineral that is occasionally found combined with contact metamorphism.

It is also the name given to a general group of crystals sharing the same structure and the formula ABX3.
