Neoproterozoic

The Neoproterozoic is the third and last era of the Proterozoic eon. It extended from about 1000 million years ago to 540 million years ago. This era was the last of the Precambrian supereon and a few seaweed and sponge fossils can be found in this epoch's the geological layers.
