Jurassic

The Jurassic is the second geological period of the mesozoic era. It began 205 million years ago and ended 137 million years ago. In this period sauropods (large quadruped herbivorous dinosaurs) were at their height and it was the golden age of dinosaurs. It also saw the appearance of the archaeopteryx, the first known bird. The Atlantic ocean and Thetys the paleo-ocean began to open up.
