Hornfel

Hornfel is a rock created by contact metamorphism, of variable mineralogical composition depending on the nature of the initial rocks (e.g.: if the initial rocks are schists, micaceous or feldspathic hornfels are formed; with quartz sandstones, the hornfels are quartzites).
