Heavy minerals

Heavy minerals are those with a density higher than 2.87 (zircon, titanite, tourmaline, garnet, etc.). Because of their density, most of them are naturally concentrated in sedimentary rocks, especially in river and beach sand where they can form exploitable accumulations (placers);
