Granulite

Granulite is metamorphic rock formed by high temperatures and pressures which covers large areas of the ancient bedrocks (Precambrian) where it is frequently associated with charnockites; granulites are light coloured rocks with an oriented texture, composed mainly of quartz and feldspars (orthose and plagioclase), with small amounts of pyroxene (hypersthene) and garnet.
