Cryoturbation

Cryoturbation is a rearranging of the soil by the action of frost and thaw: volume variations, differential solidification, appearance and disappearance of water etc.

This mechanism is one of the pedogenesis processes and landscape formation processes in cold environments (mountains, Arctic).
