Contact deposit

Contact deposits are various types of deposit located in contact with, or close to, a grained igneous rock (especially granite) and its casing; this term can include veins, impregnations and above all large ore-bearing masses formed by the replacement of carbonate rocks. The term "contact deposit" is often used more restrictively as a synonym of pyrometasomatic deposit.
