Translocation

1 During translation, translocation is the movement of the ribosome along the mRNA. During this stage the ribosome shifts in units of three nucleotides towards the 3' end of the mRNA.

2 Exchange of segments between two chromosomes.

Duchenne myopathy is an example of this. A region of the X chromosome is translocated onto chromosome 21.
