Homeotic gene

The homeotic genes, also known as architect genes, are responsible for the organisational plan of living beings, in other words placing of organs and limbs with respect to each other, depending on the antero-posterior (front to back) and dorso-ventral (top to bottom) axes of the body.

Mutation in these genes causes homeosis.
