JPEG

JPEG is a graphic file format with an impressive compression ratio, but which is detrimental to image quality: compression is at the cost of data loss. The corresponding file extension is .JPG. Unlike GIF, this format does not support transparency. The JPEG standard uses ADCT (Adaptive discrete cosine transform).
