Dual core

A dual core processor looks very much like an ordinary processor, except that it has two dies instead of one. The die is sometimes covered with a protective plate and it is not always possible to tell a dual core processor from a single core one at a glance.

It is impossible to use a dual core processor on a motherboard designed for a single core processor, even though the connector is identical. The motherboard chipset must be adapted to dual core management.
