Datagrid

Datagrid, the European calculating network, gathers together 21 European scientific and industrial partners with up to 15,000 computers and 15 terabytes of storage over 25 sites in Europe.

This is all at the disposal of 500 scientists and three major fields; high energy physics, biomedical applications and Earth observation.

Despite its success, Datagrid is making way for a new version, Egee (Enabling Grids for E-Science in Europe - 70 partner organisations from 25 countries) with the aim of making the European calculation network available throughout Europe, 24*7.
