Ice shelf

An ice shelf, or ice barrier, is a particular characteristic of the Antarctic. Ice shelves are also found in Greenland and Canada.

They are ice floes (frozen sea water) on which glaciers have formed by snow compaction. When they break, they form flat icebergs.
