Anticyclone

An anticyclone is an air mass at high atmospheric pressure that turns clockwise in the Northern hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the Southern hemisphere. An anticyclone is characterised by a downflow of air that prevents the formation of clouds. An anticyclone is therefore associated with dry, clear weather.
