Substrate

The term substrate is used in two fields: in botany and in biology.

Botany

In horticulture, a support or base in which plants can grow. This can be sediment, silt, rock or else granulates specific to a biological pool.

Biology

A molecule which, after binding itself to the active site of an enzyme, is transformed into one or more products.
