Simazine

Simazine (C7H12ClN5) is a synthetic herbicide in the triazine chemical family. This substance is in the form of a colourless crystalline powder which is not very soluble in water: 6.2 mg.L-1 at 20°C (The e-pesticide Manual, 2004).

Simazine was commonly used in France in orchards and vineyards before it was banned on 24 September 2001. According to the e-phy web site this herbicide prevents the photosynthesis of plants by blocking protein d1 of photosystem II.
