Reversible

Thermodynamics. An ideal reversible process is one in which the process takes place by infinitesimal changes in a series of infinitely close equilibria. The opposite is irreversible.

Chemistry Used loosely, the term means a reaction that could proceed in either direction. Therefore, when we refer to a "reversible reaction", the word "reversible" is not being used in the same way as in "reversible process".
