Isoprene

Isoprene, or 2-methylbuta-1,3-diene, its chemical name, is a monomer that polymerises to form natural rubber (latex) or synthetic rubber.

At ambient temperature, it is a highly reactive, odorous, volatile colourless liquid (flammable and explosive).
