Aromatic

Chemistry An aromatic molecular species has a cyclic conjugated system which, because of pi electron delocalisation, has a lower energy and hence a higher stability than any other possible limiting structure. There must be an even number of pi electrons that is not a multiple of 4, i.e. 4n+2, where n is an integer.
