Toxicology

Toxicology is the study of toxic substances and poisons. It is a very old science of which examines the sources and methods of contamination, the effects of toxins on organs and bodies and ways of detecting and combating these effects.

Toxicology is also responsible for demonstrating and characterising the toxicity or safety of compounds before they are used and marketed. This involves both medicines and cosmetics, foods and other chemicals (plant health products, paints, solvents, etc.).
