Property classified as reprotoxic influences reproductive capacity by reducing fertility or causing sterility.

Risks of reprotoxic substances

These may have a direct action on the gonads or indirectly by changing sexual behaviour (endocrine interfering agent). Some reprotoxins even act on the embryonic development of genital organs in utero.

Bisphenol A, for example, is a category 3 reprotoxin.
