Axon

An axon is a long fibrous extension of a neurone which conducts the nerve impulse. The axon is a long extension which emerges from the cell body of the neurone.

It varies in length and may be more than a meter long. Its end divides into "branches" which connect to other neurones through a specific structure, the synapse.

The axon transmits messages from our body (pain, movement), as electrical signals.
