Aneuploidy

Aneuploidy is an abnormality of the the set of chromosomes within a cell. Whole chromosomes or regions of chromosomes may either be overrepresented or absent.

Consequences of aneuploidy

Aneuploidy is often harmful (cancer, trisomy) or not viable but is commonly seen in plants in which the abnormality is not usually harmful.
